About the Role:

This is a full-time position for a Territory Sales Manager/Area Sales Manager located in Chennai, India. The successful candidate will be responsible for day-to-day sales activities, including customer service, sales management, training, and communication.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute area sales strategies aligned with the company's overall strategy.
  • Execute annual sales plans for the state/s, focusing on market share, customers, channels, product categories, and people development.
  • Drive business growth through consistent target achievement, brand coverage, increasing market share, channel development, and people sales management.
  • Prepare accurate annual sales forecasts, budgets, and achievements as per plan.
  • Sales plan preparation, goal setting, and target management - month-wise, SKU-wise, SO-wise, distributor-wise targets (volume, value).
  • Ensure fair and thorough implementation of trade schemes and promotional activities as planned by the trade marketing team and sales head.
  • Achieve product mix targets, sales team building, development, motivation, and management, sales reviews, and performance/productivity management.
  • Process compliance, driving automation (SFA) - Bizom usage in the team, customer relationship management, returns management, business intelligence and analytics (external and internal), external market and competitor information, policies, and SOPs implementation, sales process implementation.

Requirements:

  • Overall traditional trade sales experience of around 5 to 10 years.
  • Should have independently handled area sales operations for at least one division/Brand in the FMCG industry for at least 3 to 4 years.
  • Proven channel development and sales growth track record in previous organizations.
  • Worked in multiple territories as part of their sales role.
  • Complete insight into said Area-sales trends, culture, distribution, etc.
  • Strong understanding of trade marketing strategies.
  • Strong financial and business acumen.
  • Data-oriented decision-making.
  • Experience with handling sales-related process automation tools would be an added advantage.
  • Customer service and training skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain customer relationships.
  • Strong problem-solving and negotiation skills.
  • Prior experience in the FMCG industry is a plus.
  • Masters degree in Business Administration or related field.
