Job Description

The Construction Manager plays a pivotal role in overseeing the execution of construction projects. They are responsible for ensuring that all activities, including planning, direction, organization, and budgeting, are aligned with the project's objectives and are delivered within the scope of time and cost constraints.

Responsibilities include managing the conceptual development of construction projects, overseeing organization, scheduling, and implementation strategies, and acting as a liaison between the client or owner, local authorities, partners, contractors, and vendors.

Key attributes include:

  • Postgraduate or graduate degree in an engineering discipline, preferably complemented by a postgraduate degree or diploma in construction management.
  • Effective leadership and communication skills to direct and motivate construction engineers and other subordinates or specialists in performance and direct activities as necessary to ensure project requirements are achieved.
  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities to establish construction requirements for pre-fabrication and modularization, and to ensure adherence to applicable codes, standards, design deliverables, and project specific policies and procedures.
  • Excellent customer service and relationship-building skills to maintain efficient and respectful relations with clients or owners on site, and reinforce the importance of client or owner relations and satisfaction within the site organization.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Coordinating with the client, project management, and project services in identifying required reporting procedures and formats for client and management needs.
  • Directing and monitoring the day-to-day operations of the project site, including associated facilities and services.
  • Reporting to the Project Manager on the progress of works and any occurrence in the field that may affect the project execution.
