Job Overview

Cognex is seeking an experienced Director of Global Sales Development to lead our sales development efforts in Asia.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing our current outreach processes, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing strategies to drive revenue growth. They will also recruit, develop, and manage a global team of Sales Development Engineers and Sales Development Managers/Team Leaders.

Main Responsibilities
  • Observe and analyze current outreach processes, identify areas for improvement, and implement data-driven strategies to drive revenue growth.
  • Recruit, develop, and manage a global team of Sales Development Engineers and Sales Development Managers/Team Leaders.
  • Collaborate with Sales and Product teams to optimize opportunity volume and quality, delivering a defined pipeline of qualified opportunities.
  • Strategize with Sales Leadership on headcount planning, recruiting high-performing leaders and individual contributors, and deploying strategic thinking to drive higher lead conversion and break into key markets.
  • Liaise with Sales Operations and Enablement to generate data analyses and determine training curriculum priorities, minimizing onboarding and ramp time.
  • Ensure efficient and effective qualification of inbound demand, developing outbound strategies per region, and leveraging digital and field marketing resources for campaigns.
  • Plan, forecast, and understand ramp-adjusted capacity to ensure the team operates effectively, aligning with the needs of our sales organization and the supply of inbound and outbound demand.
  • Partner with regional managers to develop campaigns that align with their regional goals based on a territory plan.
  • Partner with IT and Sales Operations to ensure the SDE team has the best tools to do their job, configured to ensure SDE efficiency and productivity.
  • Manage SDE reports and dashboards to provide valuable insights to stakeholders throughout the organization.
Qualifications
  • 7+ years of experience growing sales organizations, with 5+ years focused on scaling global SDE organizations in fast-paced technology companies.
  • Proven track record of delivering sales pipeline from large enterprise accounts managing outbound prospecting teams.
  • Responsible for creating and iterating business development processes, methodologies, campaigns, hiring profiles, training, and enablement.
  • Powers user of Salesforce.com, SDE performance/activity management software, and analytics and reporting tools.
  • Ability to drive cross-functional alignment and coordination across sales and marketing teams.
  • Ability to attract, retain, and motivate exceptional SDEs and team leaders.
