Job Requirement: Customer Service CHA

Position: Customer Service Executive CHA (Customs House Agent)
Department: Customer Service / Customs Clearance
Location: Byculla

Role Overview:

The Customer Service Executive CHA will act as a bridge between clients, internal teams, and customs authorities/CHA partners to ensure smooth and timely clearance of import and export shipments. The role requires knowledge of customs processes, documentation, and customer handling in the freight forwarding industry.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Customer Handling

  • Act as the single point of contact for customers regarding customs clearance updates.
  • Provide timely information on shipment status, duties, and delivery timelines.
  • Respond to customer queries related to CHA processes, BOE filing, and documentation.

2. Documentation & Customs Clearance

  • Collect, verify, and prepare import/export documentation (invoice, packing list, bill of lading, COO, etc.).
  • Coordinate with CHA partners for Bill of Entry (BOE) / Shipping Bill filing.
  • Ensure correct HS code classification and duty/tax calculation.
  • Liaise with customs officials to resolve holds, discrepancies, or inspection requirements.

3. Coordination & Operations

  • Work closely with internal departments (Sales, Operations, Transport) for smooth cargo movement.
  • Monitor clearance activities at ports, ICDs, and airports.
  • Ensure timely delivery of cargo after customs clearance.

4. Compliance & Reporting

  • Maintain records of clearance documents and BOEs.
  • Ensure compliance with DGFT, GST, and other statutory requirements.
  • Generate MIS reports for management and customer updates.

Key Skills & Competencies:

  • In-depth knowledge of CHA operations and customs regulations.
  • Familiarity with ICEGATE, EDI filing systems, and shipping documentation.
  • Strong communication and customer service orientation.
  • Problem-solving ability for clearance-related issues.
  • Ability to work under pressure with time-sensitive shipments.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Graduate in Commerce, Logistics, or Supply Chain Management.
  • 2–6 years of experience in customer service – CHA / customs clearance.
  • Prior experience in a freight forwarding or CHA company is preferred.
  • Good understanding of Incoterms and international trade practices.
