A Head Gelato Chef is responsible for all aspects of artisanal gelato production, including creating new flavors, managing daily operations, overseeing a team, ensuring product quality and food safety, and controlling inventory and costs. Key duties involve recipe development, operating and maintaining specialized equipment, supervising staff, and collaborating on menu innovation to maintain high standards of excellence. Key responsibilities
- Culinary and Production:
- Create and develop new and seasonal gelato and sorbet flavors using high-quality ingredients.
- Manage the entire production process, from ingredient sourcing and preparation to the final product.
- Operate and perform preventive maintenance on equipment like batch freezers, pasteurizers, and blast chillers.
- Ensure consistent quality and adherence to standardized recipes and preparation methods.
- Team Leadership:
- Lead, train, and motivate the kitchen team to ensure service excellence and professional growth.
- Delegate tasks and manage the workflow to ensure efficient and timely production.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback.
- Operations and Management:
- Manage inventory, monitor ingredient usage and wastage, and control costs to ensure production is cost-efficient.
- Collaborate with procurement to manage ingredient sourcing and maintain stock levels.
- Implement and enforce strict food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards.
- Maintain production records and manage kitchen administration, including ordering and SOPs.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
