Business Development Manager

 

The key responsibility for this role would be to oversee the entire issuance/fulfillment process of new business, which includes work-in-progress (WIP) management. This entails regular engagement with distribution and policy issuance teams to ensure business continuity.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Relationship Management:
    • Strengthen relationships through regular communication with distribution heads.
    • Engage regularly to monitor and improve performance.
  • Managing New Business:
    • Ensure daily traction on WIP to meet monthly targets.
    • Drive WIP clearance through hub teams to clear field WIP on a daily basis for issuance.
    • Regularly discuss governance with HUB teams.
    • End-to-end WIP management is responsible.
    • Identify opportunities for improvement and drive various process and operational excellence initiatives to ease business operations and enhance quality measures for channel partners.
  • Data and Reporting:
    • Deliver reports and analysis on various business parameters and processing to derive plans for improvement.
    • Enable and support distribution with various data sets, reports, and dashboards.
    • Work closely with internal departments on report automation agendas.
    • Create and prepare presentations to share with senior management as required.
  • Control and Monitoring:
    • Ensure compliance with AxisMaxlife and IRDAI norms by monitoring processes.
    • Document and control changes in existing processes.
    • Process service requests according to defined SLAs.
  • Projects and Continuous Improvement:
    • Conduct benchmarking internally and externally to establish best-in-class delivery and quality standards.
    • Roll out new guidelines for distribution adherence.
  • Manage People:
    • Develop team members to perform effectively and efficiently.

 

Measures of Success:

  • Monthly or regular governance engagements with distribution leaders/head.
  • Publishing monthly issuance dashboards/scorecards.
  • Driving operational efficiencies with distribution teams.
  • 92% monthly issuance.
  • 94% month 2 issuance.
  • 85% FTR.
  • Drive customer satisfaction through timely resolution of escalations and requests.
  • Complete at least one green/black belt project within the year.
  • Talent retention >10% attrition for G2M2 above.
  • Accurate reconciliation of business data/reports.
  • User-friendly customization of analytical reports.
  • Number of initiatives deployed to bring about process improvements.
  • Effective alignment across departments with minimal escalations.

 

Desired Qualifications and Experience:

  • Graduate/Post Graduate in Management.
  • Minimum 10+ years of experience, including 5 years in relationship management and Banca operations management.
  • Sound knowledge of Bancassurance or Banking Operations Model, specifically operations processes.
  • Good communication and analytical skills.
  • Strong data skills and solution-centric approach.
  • Customer-centric approach.
  • Process documentation and systems approach.
  • Computer skills in using databases and office management software, including spreadsheets/presentation skills.
