Business Development Manager Job Summary

The primary objective of this role is to manage a group of customers and achieve designated sales target levels.

BDMs own the relationship with business partners and drive performance to increase market reach.

They are also responsible for account receivable collections within the stipulated credit period and as first line assessors of customer credit worthiness.

Regular follow ups for business and maintaining relationships are essential in this role.

Key Responsibilities:Sales Strategy
  • Responsible for developing new methods for mapping prospects, generating leads and driving sales deals with customers.
  • Promote the use of core products within customer accounts.
  • Direct the product demonstration process for qualified target accounts.
  • Conduct training workshops for staff to enhance their skills.
  • Attend conferences in the industry representing the company with products.
  • Generate tenders and facilitate the government tendering process.
Channel Management
  • Appoint and manage distributors/channels for product range.
  • Plan and implement market coverage strategies based upon business potential & growth.
  • Ensure development & engagement of channel partners throughout the year.
  • Conduct quarterly business reviews/Performance review and highlight critical issues to management.
  • Conduct Sales Training Workshop for channel partners every 6 months.
Account Relationship
  • Develop and maintain strategic long-term business relationships with existing customers.
  • Recommend products & solutions that fit well with customer needs.
  • Provide weekly, monthly sales forecasts to management.
  • Support in bringing up customer voice to management, ensure any customer issues are resolved satisfactorily.
  • Ensure that the accounts receivable is maintained to the desired level and constant follow up is taken up to close non-payment issues.
  • Regular updates on competition activity and report back to management.
Alignment with Functions
  • Improve alignment with verticals such as Medical Films and XRS business.
  • Proactively highlight disconnect between sales & other business functions and work with them for process standardizing.
Compliance
  • Adhere to all policies at the highest levels.
