About the Role
Amazon's Legal Department is seeking a talented lawyer to support the dynamic and rapidly growing marketplace business in India. As a Corporate Counsel, you will independently support diversified business teams across India consumer business on a broad range of legal, commercial, technology, privacy, compliance, and regulatory matters. You will serve as the primary lawyer responsible for advising the business on a broad range of commercial and regulatory matters and structuring, drafting, and negotiating commercial transactions.
Key Responsibilities
- Advise business teams on legal, commercial, technology, privacy, compliance, and regulatory matters.
- Structure, draft, and negotiate commercial transactions.
- Work on complex and evolving regulations governing the marketplace operations in India.
About the Team
This role is part of the legal team that supports Amazon's marketplace businesses in India. Requirements
- LLB in India or equivalent law degree in other common law jurisdiction.
- A minimum of 8-14 years of legal experience in law firm or in-house role, preferably with some portion of that experience in technology and commercial transactions.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to act as business partner to senior management.
- Great business judgment especially in ambiguous situations.
- Ability to prioritize in a fast-moving environment.
- High degree of independence, initiative, and decisiveness but also desire to be challenged and think outside the box.
- High standards of ethics and professional integrity.
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of relevant laws and regulations governing E-commerce Marketplace in India. Hands-on experience in FDI law, Intellectual Property law, Consumer Protection law, Information Technology Law, Competition Law, and Advertising Laws.
- A team player and consensus builder with great people skills who can effectively and efficiently collaborate and build relationships with attorneys and business clients at all levels throughout the organization.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to simultaneously manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
