Amazon Corporate Counsel Role for Marketplace

Amazon's Legal Department is seeking a talented lawyer to support a dynamic and rapidly growing marketplace business in India. As a Corporate Counsel, you will be responsible for advising the business on a broad range of commercial and regulatory matters, structuring, drafting, and negotiating commercial transactions. You will work on complex and evolving regulations governing the marketplace operations in India.
Key Responsibilities:
- Independently support diversified business teams across India consumer business on a broad range of legal, commercial, technology, privacy, compliance, and regulatory matters.
- Serve as the primary lawyer responsible for advising the business on a broad range of commercial and regulatory matters and structuring, drafting, and negotiating commercial transactions.
- Work on complex and evolving regulations governing the marketplace operations in India.
- Lead initiatives in liaison with diverse stakeholders including tax, litigation, finance, public relations, and public policy teams.
Requirements:
- LLB in India or equivalent law degree in other common law jurisdiction.
- A minimum of years of legal experience in law firm or in-house role, preferably with some portion of that experience in technology and commercial transactions.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to act as a business partner to senior management.
- Great business judgment especially in ambiguous situations.
- Ability to prioritize in a fast-moving environment.
- High degree of independence, initiative, and decisiveness but also a desire to be challenged and think outside the box.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Strong knowledge of relevant laws and regulations governing Ecommerce Marketplace in India.
- A team player and consensus builder with great people skills who can effectively and efficiently collaborate and build relationships with attorneys and business clients at all levels throughout the organization.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to simultaneously manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
