Business Head - Micro LAP

Position Overview:

This is a full-time, on-site role for the position of Business Head - LAP for our MFI located in Gurugram. We require a self-driven and motivated candidate to head our lending against property vertical. The candidate will be responsible for the overall growth and profitability of this vertical. He or she will be required to network and build strong relationships with industry experts and senior leaders. In addition, the role requires a highly analytical mindset to identify strategic growth opportunities and risk-mitigation practices to ensure long-term success.

Key Responsibilities:

Business Strategy: Develop and implement a regional business strategy for Micro LAP that aligns with the overall company objectives and targets.

Sales and Business Development: Lead the sales team to achieve targets by identifying market opportunities, building a strong distribution network, and fostering relationships with key partners and customers.

Portfolio Management: Monitor and manage the Micro LAP portfolio's performance, including asset quality, delinquency, and profitability. Implement strategies to minimize non-performing assets.

Risk Management: Co-create risk policies and ensure compliance with guidelines while conducting risk assessments, credit appraisals, and underwriting decisions.

Team Management: Build and lead a high-performing team, providing guidance, coaching, and training to develop their skills and meet performance objectives.

Market Research: Stay updated on market trends, competitive intelligence, and customer feedback to make informed decisions and adapt strategies accordingly.

Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to all regulatory and compliance requirements related to Micro LAP operations.

Customer Relationship Management: Foster positive relationships with customers, addressing their concerns, and ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction.

Financial Performance: Manage the regional P&L, budgeting, and cost control to achieve revenue and profitability targets.

Reporting and Analysis: Prepare and present regular reports on the regional Micro LAP business's performance to senior management.

Collaboration: Collaborate with other departments within the organization, such as credit, operations, and marketing, to streamline processes and achieve common objectives.

Process Development: Working with legal agencies and tech team and develop the process to work with LOS and LMS.

Qualifications & Competencies:

- 15+ years of experience in the micro loan against property space.

- Prior experience in small ticket LAP (Micro / Affordable Housing / LAP) (Mandatory)

- Experience in managing multiple teams - sales, product, digital, with an oversight on credit & collections.

- Excellent understanding of business operations, P&L management, and risk management practices.

- Strong leadership, decision-making, and analytical thinking abilities.

- Proven track record of achieving business growth through effective relationship building in the industry.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a demonstrable ability to manage and lead teams effectively.

- Proven experience in setting business from ground zero
