Job Purpose:

The HDD & MT (Horizontal Directional Drilling & Micro tunneling) Manager will lead the planning, design, and execution of trenchless crossing works, particularly for offshore pipeline landfalls and subsea connections. The role requires managing end-to-end project delivery including engineering, field execution, subcontractor management, safety, and quality compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Project Planning & Execution

  • Lead HDD and MT works for offshore pipeline landfalls, shore pulls, and river/road crossings.
  • Prepare project execution methodology, bore profiles, feasibility studies, and risk assessments.
  • Oversee site operations – pilot hole, reaming, pullback, micro tunnel boring, and pipe installation.
  • Ensure compliance with approved design, HSE standards, and client specifications.

2. Engineering & Design

  • Review geotechnical and hydrographic survey data for feasibility and alignment design.
  • Select rigs, drilling fluids, tooling, and MT machines based on site conditions.
  • Approve HDD/MT engineering drawings, calculations, and construction procedures.

3. Coordination & Management

  • Manage subcontractors, vendors, and internal project teams.
  • Interface with clients, consultants, and statutory authorities for project clearances.
  • Monitor progress, cost, and resources; implement corrective actions where required.

4. Technical Documentation & Compliance

  • Prepare method statements, ITPs, work permits, and as-built reports.
  • Ensure compliance with DNV/ASTM/API/IS codes relevant to HDD & MT works.
  • Document lessons learned and improve trenchless execution practices.

5. People & Safety Management

  • Lead and mentor HDD/MT engineers, supervisors, and crews.
  • Drive a strong safety culture in hazardous offshore/coastal environments.
  • Conduct toolbox talks, HSE audits, and risk management workshops.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in any
    Engineering.
  • 10–15 years
    of relevant experience in HDD & MT works, with at least 5 years in offshore/coastal pipeline projects.
  • Proven track record of managing HDD landfalls, shore pulls, and trenchless crossings.
  • Strong knowledge of HDD/MT rigs, drilling fluids, geotechnical interpretation, and pipe stress analysis.
