Position Title: General Manager Sales (PAN India)

Industry: FMCG

Location: Chennai

Reporting To: Director

Role Overview:

The GM Sales (PAN India) will be responsible for driving national sales strategy, expanding market presence, and achieving revenue growth targets across all zones. The role demands strong expertise in General Trade (GT) operations, distributor management, team leadership, and execution excellence across the country.\

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement PAN India sales strategy aligned with business goals.
  • Lead and manage regional/zonal sales teams to ensure achievement of monthly and annual sales targets.
  • Drive General Trade (GT) sales operations, distributor/channel partner network expansion and performance.
  • Manage primary and secondary sales, route-to-market planning and trade promotion execution.
  • Ensure strong market penetration, coverage, and numeric & weighted distribution growth.
  • Build and strengthen relationships with distributors, super stockists, and key trade partners.
  • Monitor competitor activities and market trends and provide strategic inputs to management.
  • Plan and monitor sales budgets, trade schemes, credit control, and ROI of channel partners.
  • Lead sales forecasting, demand planning, and coordination with supply chain for product availability.
  • Conduct periodic performance reviews of regional teams and ensure capability building.
  • Lead new product launch execution and ensure market activation at ground level.
  • Travel extensively across markets to monitor field operations and trade dynamics.

Candidate Profile & Requirements:

  • Experience: Minimum 15–20 years in FMCG sales with at least 3–5 years at GM/Head Sales level handling PAN India.
  • Must have strong General Trade (GT) experience – Modern Trade exposure will be an added advantage.
  • Proven experience in handling PAN India distributor networks and large field sales force.
  • Strong team leadership and people management skills.
  • Language Requirement: Hindi speaking is mandatory. Knowledge of other regional languages is an advantage.
  • Strong analytical skills, negotiation ability, and strategic mindset.
  • Should be ready for extensive travel across India.
  • MBA or equivalent qualification preferred.
