The Head of Administration & Operations ensures the smooth, safe, and efficient functioning of the school's administrative, operational, and logistical systems. The role oversees facilities, safety, compliance, transport, catering, events, vendor management, and administrative services. The position requires strong leadership, operational excellence, and the ability to support a dynamic school environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Facilities & Infrastructure:
Manage campus upkeep, preventive maintenance, space allocation, vendor coordination, and overall infrastructure quality. - Safety & Security:
Implement safety protocols, emergency preparedness, compliance requirements, and campus security systems. - Compliance & Risk:
Ensure adherence to statutory regulations and proactively manage operational and safety risks. - Operational Efficiency:
Streamline processes, manage procurement, oversee inventory, and optimize resource utilization. - Finance & Budgeting:
Support budgeting for operations, monitor expenses, and ensure cost discipline. - Vendor & Contract Management:
Oversee transportation, catering, housekeeping, and maintenance contracts; ensure SLA adherence. - Transportation:
Ensure safe, compliant, and timely school bus operations. - Catering:
Oversee meal quality, hygiene standards, kitchen operations, and vendor coordination. - Team Leadership:
Lead, mentor, and develop the admin & operations team; foster a service-oriented culture. - Event & Logistics:
Manage logistics for school events, functions, and community activities. - Administrative Support:
Supervise front-office functions and provide operational support for admissions and school teams. - Parent & Community Partnership:
Support initiatives that strengthen parent engagement and community relations.
Candidate Profile
Essential
- Age:
40–50 years - Bachelors Degree in Business Administration or Public Administration.
- Current & permanent resident of Chennai
- Fluency in English & Tamil
(verbal & written) - Passion or experience in the
education sector - Experience in
project management - Good understanding of
IT systems - Knowledge of
Indian, Tamil Nadu, and GCC laws
relevant to school operations - 10-15 years of experience in similar role
Desirable
- Experience in school/large-campus administration & operations
- Familiarity with ERP systems (PeopleSoft, Oracle, Nav, Business Central)
- Strong leadership, teamwork, and stakeholder-management skills
- Ability to navigate complex operational challenges and drive efficiencies
