Key Responsibilities:

  • Sales & Revenue Growth

  • Achieve sales targets and growth objectives for modern trade in the assigned zone.

  • Drive revenue, market share, and profitability through effective planning and execution.

  • Account Management

  • Manage and build strong relationships with key modern trade accounts (national & regional chains, supermarkets, hypermarkets, e-commerce platforms if applicable).

  • Negotiate annual business plans (ABP), joint business plans (JBP), promotions, visibility, and activations with accounts.
  • Ensure compliance with agreed terms, trade schemes, and commercial policies.

  • Business Development

  • Identify and develop new opportunities in modern trade for increasing numeric & weighted distribution.

  • Ensure new product launches are effectively implemented across modern trade partners.

  • Team Leadership

  • Lead, coach, and develop the regional/key account executives & sales officers in the zone.

  • Monitor productivity, provide direction, and ensure alignment with organizational goals.

  • Operations & Execution

  • Ensure effective merchandising, shelf-space management, planogram adherence, and in-store visibility.

  • Drive secondary sales through close coordination with distributors/stockists aligned to modern trade.
  • Monitor supply chain, stock availability, and minimize OOS (Out of Stock) situations.

  • Analysis & Reporting

  • Track sales performance, competitor activities, category trends, and consumer behavior in modern trade.

  • Provide regular MIS reports and actionable insights to senior management.

Key Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong knowledge of modern trade operations and dynamics in FMCG food industry.
  • Proven negotiation and relationship management skills with key retailers.
  • Business acumen with ability to analyze sales data, market trends, and competition.
  • Leadership skills with experience in handling multi-location teams.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, competitive environment.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • MBA / PGDM preferred (Sales & Marketing specialization).
  • 1015 years of overall sales experience with at least 45 years in modern trade handling at zonal/regional level in FMCG (Food/Beverages preferred).
  • Strong track record of achieving sales targets and managing large-scale key accounts.
