Scrap charge enhancement is a key enabler to meet our Sustainability Goals. Accordingly, JSW Steel forayed into Steel Recycling & is setting up its 1st Scrap Processing plant in Khopoli, Maharashtra for supply of quality steel scrap to the Steel Melt Shops. To facilitate the increasing demand, there is a need to expand our footprint suitably. Hence, it is imperative to set-up additional Scrap processing/ Collection centres as per the Domestic scrap landscape & Proximity to our plants. This is a Techno-commercial role primarily entailing Market study & Evaluation of different alternatives/ business models for set-up of Scrap Processing/ Collection centres.

Role Scope & Key Deliverables:

  • The role covers - Conducting comprehensive market studies, Building the business case, Driving plant setup & Executing the Projects.
  • This includes development of strategic partnerships & expansion of JSWs footprint across the scrap supply chain.

Key Result Areas (Key Performance Indicators):

  • Assess the market for different scrap types, supply-demand dynamics, pricing trends, and regulatory changes in the Domestic & International Market.
  • Develop and Validate business models for sourcing and strengthening the scrap supply chain, with focus on South region collection & processing centres.
  • Identify, evaluate, and onboard partners (yards, aggregators, dismantlers, OEMs, logistics) for obsolete and prompt scrap.
  • Identifying required technologies & infrastructure, Prepare capex plan, business case, board notes, and evaluate land/locations for setting up scrap processing centres.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders and ensure monthly/annual/long-term sourcing plans are met in terms of quality, quantity, and delivery.

Critical Tasks

  • Developing Business Framework for setting up Scrap Collection & Processing Centres.
  • Identifying the required technology & infrastructure for the processing units such as equipment, land & plant infra, etc.
  • Developing Scrap Sourcing Strategy to cater to the business requirement (present & future).
  • Develop business process and workflow for carrying out transactions
  • Appointment and onboarding of partners in the areas of industrial & obsolete scrap sourcing.
  • Developing Business Framework for setting up Scrap Collection & Processing Centres.
  • Identifying the required technology & infrastructure for the processing units such as equipment, land & plant infra, etc.
  • Developing Scrap Sourcing Strategy to cater to the business requirement (present & future).
  • Develop business process and workflow for carrying out transactions
  • Appointment and onboarding of partners in the areas of industrial & obsolete scrap sourcing.

Competencies

  • Knowledge of domestic and international scrap market including the regulations and compliances.
  • Experience in managing contracts & vendor relationships.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, SAP etc
