HR & Labour Supervisor
Reporting to: Factory Manager / Owner
Supervises: Labour contractors, attendance staff, canteen/housing staff, security staff (if applicable)
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage recruitment and labour through contractors & direct hiring.
- Conduct basic verification of new workers (ID, references).
- Provide orientation on factory rules, safety, and attendance norms.
- Onboard new employees to the company.
- Maintain attendance, shift schedules, other records.
- Maintain daily attendance using registers, punch cards, and biometric.
- Ensure compliance with PF, ESI, Minimum Wages Act, labour welfare norms.
- Handle worker grievances, absenteeism, and attrition.
- Support payroll preparation with Accounts. Coordinate with Accounts for timely salary disbursement (cash/transfer).
- Arrange basic facilities like clean drinking water, toilets, and rest areas.
- Coordinate with production for manpower allocation.
- Ensure labour contractors maintain proper wage & compliance records.
- Cross-verify contractor bills with attendance. Prevent double-billing or ghost workers.
- Create monthly bill summaries for contractors for the purpose of salary.
- Monitor worker behaviour, absenteeism patterns, conflicts.
- Counsel workers to improve discipline (lateness, alcohol issues, frequent leave).
- Escalate serious issues to Factory Manager.
- Encourage upskilling of helpers into semi-skilled roles (reduces turnover).
- Arrange housing/food/transport facilities (if provided by factory).
- Implement new policies and decisions through persuasion, discipline, and strong hand.
Skills Required:
- Knowledge of labour laws.
- People management & conflict resolution.
- Basic record-keeping and payroll software/Excel.
- Understanding mindset of labours and contractors.
- Ability to push through changes in current systems.
- Basic tech know-how.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: ₹14, ₹35,000.00 per month
