Key responsibilities of National Sales Head
Market Development and Analysis
Identify new market opportunities, customer segments, and channel partners (retail, dealers, projects, architects, etc.) conduct market research, and analyze sales data to inform strategy.
Lead expansion into untapped territories or product verticals.
Conduct competitive analysis and adjust strategy accordingly.
Sales cycle management: Oversee the entire sales cycle, from identifying leads to closing deals and managing customer pipelines.
Sales Strategy & Leadership
Define and implement the national/regional sales strategy for tile and stone products.
Set annual sales targets and ensure alignment with business goals.
Monitor KPIs and sales performance metrics across regions and teams.
Develop and implement sales plans to meet or exceed targets.
Identify new business opportunities in retail, wholesale, commercial, or design sectors.
Track market trends and adjust sales strategies accordingly.
Client Relationship Management
Build and maintain strong relationships with contractors, designers, architects, retailers, developers and other key clients.
Handle key accounts and high-value negotiations.
Provide product advice and technical support to clients.
Coordination with Other Departments
Work with production/supply chain to ensure product availability and timely delivery.
Collaborate with marketing for branding, promotions, and product launches.
Liaise with finance for pricing, credit policies, and collections.
Team Management (if applicable)
Lead and motivate the sales team.
Provide training on products, sales techniques, and customer service.
Monitor team performance and provide feedback.
Recruit, hire, train, and mentor sales staff, and manage their performance.
Product Knowledge & Promotion
Understand different types of tile and stone (cement, concrete, ceramic, porcelain, marble, granite, etc.).
Educate clients on product usage, care, and installation requirements.
Work with marketing to promote new product lines.
Operational Oversight
Manage pricing, quotations, and sales contracts.
Coordinate with inventory and logistics teams to ensure timely delivery.
Reporting & Forecasting
Provide detailed sales reports to top management.
Forecast demand trends and recommend stock planning.
Analyze region-wise performance and take corrective actions.
Track and report on sales performance, including volume, revenue, and market share.
Required skills and qualifications for National Sales Head
- Experience: 10+ years in sales, with at least 35 years in a leadership role in the tile, stone, building materials, , tiles, stone, ceramics or construction industry
- Leadership: Strong leadership and team management abilities.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication and negotiation skills.
- Analytical skills: Ability to analyze sales data and market trends to make informed decisions.
- Customer focus: Strong customer service and relationship-building skills.
- Product knowledge: Thorough understanding of product specifications, applications, and market intelligence is crucial. Knowledge of tile and stone types, applications, and installation methods.
- Proficiency with CRM tools, MS Office, and sometimes ERP systems.
