Job Summary:

The Commis 3 is an entry-level position in the kitchen brigade. The role is primarily focused on basic food preparation and assisting senior chefs with daily kitchen tasks. Commis 3 plays a key role in maintaining hygiene, mise-en-place, and learning core culinary skills on the job.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in basic food preparation tasks (washing, peeling, cutting, portioning ingredients).
  • Support Commis 2, Commis 1, and Chef de Partie during mise-en-place and service.
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the workstation and kitchen equipment.
  • Follow hygiene and food safety standards at all times (HACCP guidelines).
  • Learn kitchen procedures, recipes, and presentation standards.
  • Dispose of waste properly and assist with kitchen cleaning duties.
  • Receive and store deliveries according to kitchen protocols.
  • Ensure ingredients are properly labelled and stored.

Requirements:

  • Basic knowledge of kitchen operations and food safety.
  • Passion for cooking and willingness to learn.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work under supervision.
  • Team player with a positive attitude.
  • Physical stamina and ability to work long shifts.
  • Previous kitchen experience (internship or training) is a plus but not required.
  • Flexibility to work in different sections and shifts, including weekends and holidays.
