Key Account Manager (Modern Trade)

Reports to: Trade Marketing Lead
Build Alkem's Modern Trade from zero to one and own scale across national key accounts.
Lead joint business plans, negotiations, listings, and visibility programs that convert partnerships into growth. Drive revenue, distribution, and on-shelf excellence through data-led planning and cross-functional execution. You will be expected to act with full autonomy, speed, and measurable impact on category share and sales.
Role Objective:
To initiate and grow sales through modern trade channels by building strong relationships with key accounts, ensuring perfect store execution, and driving visibility and promotions for the to be launched OTC portfolio.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage relationships with key modern trade accounts (e.g., Reliance, Big Bazaar, Apollo, Wellness Forever).
Negotiate annual contracts, margins, and joint business plans.
Ensure timely order processing, stock availability, and replenishment.
Plan and execute in-store visibility, sampling, and promotions.
Monitor sales performance and take corrective actions.
Coordinate with supply chain and finance for smooth operations.
Analyze consumer trends and competitor activities in MT.
Key Skills & Competencies:
Strong negotiation and relationship management skills.
Understanding of modern trade dynamics and store-level execution.
Analytical mindset with proficiency in Excel and reporting tools.
Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and timelines
Qualifications:
Graduate (MBA preferred).
3 to 6 years of experience in FMCG/OTC sales in Modern Trade.
-Should have managed retail chain accounts like Apollo, Medplus, Tata 1MG, Wellness Forever, Health and Glow, Nykaa Stores etc. Experience in any of the mentioned or unmentioned retail chains is a must.
