Position Overview:
As our Sous Chef in Culinary Innovation, you'll be a key player in our culinary research and development process. You'll work closely with our Product Development team, food scientists, and culinary interns to bring cutting-edge food concepts to life. This role offers a unique blend of creativity, technical skill, and scientific curiosity, allowing you to explore the intersection of culinary arts, food science, and technology.

Key Responsibilities:

- 1. Innovative Recipe Development
- Create ground-breaking recipes from scratch, incorporating innovative techniques, ingredients, and technologies
- Collaborate with food scientists and nutritionists to develop recipes that are both delicious and nutritionally optimised
- Adapt and refine existing recipes to meet specific nutritional, cost, or product requirements
- Conduct culinary experiments to test new ingredients, cooking methods, and flavour combinations

2. Culinary Technology Integration
- Work with our engineering team to test and provide feedback on new kitchen automation technologies
- Develop recipes and techniques that leverage our innovative kitchen gadgets and systems
- Contribute ideas for new culinary technologies based on your professional experience and insights

3. Food Styling and Presentation
- Craft visually stunning dishes that are as appealing to the eye as they are to the palate
- Develop plating techniques that can be replicated by our automated systems
- Collaborate with the marketing team on food styling for product photography and videos

4. Team Leadership and Mentorship
- Guide and mentor Culinary Interns and Culinary Science Associates in their projects and experiments
- Foster a culture of innovation, creativity, and continuous learning within the culinary team
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including R&D, marketing, and engineering

5. Quality Control and Food Safety
- Ensure all recipes meet our high standards for taste, appearance, consistency, and food safety
- Implement and maintain strict food safety and hygiene standards in the R&D kitchen
- Conduct sensory evaluations and provide detailed feedback on taste, texture, and overall quality

6. Content Creation and Documentation
- Contribute to our food content strategy, including recipe documentation, video tutorials, and social media content
- Prepare comprehensive reports on recipe development, experimental outcomes, and recommendations
- Assist in creating user manuals and guides for our culinary products

7. Trend Analysis and Implementation
- Stay abreast of emerging food trends, innovative cooking techniques, and culinary technologies
- Attend culinary conferences, workshops, and events to bring back new ideas and insights
- Incorporate cutting-edge trends into our recipe development and product innovation process

**Requirements**:

- Culinary degree or equivalent experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience as Sous Chef, in a professional kitchen, preferably with R&D exposure
- Strong knowledge of various cuisines, cooking techniques, and food science principles
- Experience with or strong interest in culinary technology and kitchen automation
- Excellent creativity, problem-solving skills, and ability to think outside the box
- Strong leadership and mentoring abilities
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
- Proficiency in using culinary software, digital tools, and basic data analysis
- Preferred Skills:

- Experience in a food research and development environment
Familiarity with food chemistry and how it applies to cooking
- Experience with sensory evaluation and food product testing
- Knowledge of food preservation techniques and quality control practices
