Avaaz launched in 2007 with an ambitious but simple mission: empower people of all nations to act together to close the gap between the world we have and the world most people everywhere want. The movement now comprises nearly 70 million people from every country in the world.

Our model enables people to channel their individual voices and resources into a powerful collective force to impact pressing global issues, from climate and ecological crises to human rights abuses and the dismantling of democracy. We have 100 staff spread across 6 continents, and annual revenues of $25-28m. We are funded entirely by small donations from individual Avaaz members.

We are currently seeking an exceptional individual to join us as the Chief Operating Officer, a role that is pivotal to the operational success of Avaaz. As a key member of the Executive Team, reporting to Avaaz’s Acting Chief Executive Officer, the COO will design and deliver an operations strategy capable of supporting Avaaz to achieve its mission and goals.

You will demonstrate a strong track record of managing across diverse and multi-functional teams (people, financial, operations, technology, legals, risk management and/impact), and fostering collaboration for effective decision making. You will bring significant experience of working in international settings within global organisations, whether for-profit or non-profit to deliver against organisational and strategic priorities. Committed to Avaaz’s core mission and goals, you will be familiar with global best practice and bring experience of implementing operations strategies and systems to support impact.
