Job Title:
South Indian Cuisine Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented individual to join our culinary team as a South Indian Cuisine Specialist. This role will play a crucial part in supporting our kitchen operations and contributing to the preparation of authentic South Indian dishes.

Responsibilities:
• Assist senior chefs in preparing South Indian dishes, maintaining a clean and organized workstation, and adhering to food safety and hygiene standards.
• Properly handle, store, and rotate ingredients and supplies, ensuring they are within their expiration dates and stored correctly.
• Operate and maintain kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, following the manufacturer's instructions and guidelines.
• Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure timely food preparation and service, prioritizing tasks and managing time effectively.
• Follow recipes and portion controls accurately, measuring ingredients carefully and cooking food to the correct temperatures.
• Assist in inventory management and stock rotation, monitoring supplies and ordering new items when necessary.
• Participate in kitchen cleaning and sanitation procedures, ensuring the kitchen remains clean and hygienic at all times.
• Learn and adapt to new cooking techniques and recipes, staying up-to-date with industry trends and developments.
• Support the culinary team during peak hours and special events, being flexible and willing to work varying shifts.

Qualifications:
• Knowledge of South Indian cuisine, cooking techniques, and regional specialties, with a strong understanding of flavor profiles and ingredient combinations.
• Proficiency in knife skills and food preparation techniques, with the ability to chop, dice, and mince ingredients quickly and accurately.
• Familiarity with kitchen equipment operation and maintenance, including ovens, stoves, refrigerators, and dishwashers.
• Strong understanding of food safety and hygiene practices, with a commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and sanitation.
• Basic math skills for recipe measurements and portioning, with the ability to calculate ingredient quantities and cooking times accurately.
• Excellent time management and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, remaining calm and composed under pressure.
• High school diploma or equivalent required, with culinary school diploma or certificate preferred.
• Food Handler's certification required, with a strong commitment to maintaining high standards of food safety and hygiene.
