Lead Development Strategist

About the Role:

We are seeking a seasoned leader to spearhead our development efforts. As Lead Development Strategist, you will be responsible for implementing a comprehensive fundraising plan and establishing key relationships to secure revenue for our philanthropic initiatives.

You will work closely with our India Leader and thematic teams to build a pipeline of support from individuals, foundations, corporations, and other funding sources. This role requires regular interface with our Founder to advance our vision.

Your primary focus will be on building and growing a team that can keep pace with program growth and on-ground expansion in India. You will ensure annual fundraising targets are set and met through a coherent approach, engaging all key stakeholders internally and externally.

This role is ideal for an entrepreneurial, result-driven leader with a proven track record of building and augmenting national networks of diverse donor support.

About Our Organization:

We have been working in Punjab since 2018, creating global models for social change by engaging with communities. Our mission is to improve the lives of children, youth, women, and the environment by making significant social, cultural, and economic investments in three thematic areas—environment and sustainability, youth development, and women's empowerment.

Working in close collaboration with rural communities and administration, we have impacted the lives of 2.4 million people in over 2,400 villages in Punjab through various on-the-ground programs such as The Billion Tree Project, Learn Labs, and Waste Management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create a roadmap and strategy for our fundraising efforts with clear short-, medium-, and long-term objectives based on a shared vision of desired outcomes
  • Develop a national network of diverse supporters strengthening the existing network and adding new champions and donors
  • Build a diverse portfolio approach to fund raising in order to ensure effort and target distribution across different kinds of sources
  • Proactively execute multiple aspects of the plan engaging high net worth individuals, corporations, foundations, and other pertinent entities
  • Work closely with Foundation Leader(s) to put in place and in use an effective fund channelization and utilization process along with clear measures to determine net value added in the targeted thematic areas
  • Keep initiative teams informed on emergent trends and outlook in terms of long-standing partnership and/or support commitments to ensure that our operating designs are simple, relevant, and practicable in terms of measurable impact
  • Use the understanding of leading-edge philanthropic pipeline and cause-related marketing management to drive related funding endeavors across different thematic areas of the organization
  • Work with cross-functional teams to continually identify opportunities for enrichment and augmentation of fundraising opportunities and impact

Requirements:

  • A Master's degree in business, Social Sciences, or another related field with a minimum of 10 years of experience in direct fundraising and partnership roles, with at least 3 years in a leadership position. Experience with social or development sector organizations would be preferred
  • A driven and empathetic leader who can work across boundaries and get things done
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision and comfort with the ambiguity of the fundraising universe
  • Highly organized with strong project management skills, interpersonal skills, and an executive presence with the ability to quickly establish personal credibility and demonstrate expertise
  • Highly developed cultural awareness and ability to work well in an international environment with people from diverse backgrounds, cultures, and time-zones
  • Ability to stretch limits to meet deadlines and time-bound goals for self and team members
  • Outstanding leadership capabilities, ability to communicate a compelling vision and drive results while developing a strong team
  • Adaptable with a penchant for innovation and a keen eye for emergent trends, regulatory environment, and fast-evolving policy context with willingness to learn on the fly
