The Principal Legal Counsel position is designed to be a core member of the in-house legal team. This role involves working closely with skilled lawyers to provide comprehensive legal and compliance solutions to business operations. A key focus area will be managing enterprise-wide compliance programs, especially technology management and self-assessment initiatives for the entire organization.
The ideal candidate will have experience in implementing whistleblower programs, handling global investigations, and negotiating remediations. They should also possess expertise in corporate compliance, regulatory regimes, and employee feedback mechanisms. Additionally, they should be able to interpret new regulations, plan trainings, and effectively handle complaints and investigations.
Responsibilities include:
- Implementing and adopting whistleblower programs with global and regional reach.
- Handling global investigations and negotiating remediations.
- Achieving corporate compliance operational objectives by contributing information and recommendations to Compliance & Integrity Plans and reviews.
- Reviewing and improving whistleblower systems, employee feedback mechanisms, and company policies.
- Interpreting new regulations and laws by reviewing and analyzing proposed and adopted state legislation and regulations.
- Effectively communicating with various functions to assist in expansion agendas.
Requirements:
- Qualified lawyer with minimum JD along with relevant experience as compliance counsel.
- Additional qualification e.g. CA/CFA will be preferred.
Essential skills include analytical skills relating to business processes, business data, and interpersonal relations. The ability to develop reports, policies, and procedures in a multinational environment is crucial. Experience in public speaking and business presentation, as well as knowledge of IT industry regulatory standards, are also essential.
