Scientific Operations Manager


Job Description:

The primary function of this role is to lead and manage laboratory operations ensuring they are performed efficiently, effectively, and in compliance with established standards. This includes managing personnel, processes, and resources to achieve optimal results.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage day-to-day operations of the laboratory, including supervising staff, coordinating activities, and maintaining quality management systems.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for laboratory tests and ensure their accuracy, reliability, and adherence to regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct training sessions for staff on proper laboratory test procedures and sample collection processes, as well as provide guidance on equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Perform complex tasks related to assigned areas of responsibility, such as designing methods for continuous process improvements, preparing MIS reports, and analyzing QC data.
  • Ensure timely corrective actions for sub-optimal proficiency test results and non-quality assurance conformances raised during audits.
  • Design, execute, and monitor Quality Improvement Programs in the laboratory, as well as coordinate inter-lab proficiency programs.
  • Provide customer care by resolving technical queries from patients, doctors, and collection centers regarding test offerings and reports, and furnish literature support for disputed results when necessary.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Advanced degree in a relevant field, such as biology, chemistry, or microbiology.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in laboratory operations, preferably in a senior management role.
  • Proven track record of leading teams, implementing quality management systems, and improving laboratory efficiency.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in laboratory information management systems (LIMS), MS Office, and other relevant software.
