Job Title: Environmental Governance Specialist

We are seeking an experienced environmental governance specialist to join our sustainability and compliance team. The role involves conducting supplier assessments focused on environmental criteria, assessing supplier risks, and ensuring alignment with international standards, client requirements, and internal frameworks.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in supplier evaluations, environmental data collection, and audit reporting, with strong analytical and stakeholder engagement skills.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct on-site and remote supplier environmental audits, covering environmental practices, labor and human rights, health & safety, ethics, and governance.
  • Evaluate suppliers' compliance with international standards (ISO 14001/45001) and client-specific codes of conduct.
  • Perform risk-based assessments to identify environmental gaps, red flags, and improvement opportunities.
  • Review supplier documents such as policies, certifications, permits, and environmental disclosures for authenticity and compliance.
  • Prepare detailed audit reports with findings, ratings, and corrective action recommendations.
  • Support suppliers in building corrective action plans (CAPs) and monitor implementation progress.
  • Collaborate with procurement, sustainability, and compliance teams to integrate environmental considerations into supplier selection and evaluation processes.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor's/Master's degree in Sustainability, Environmental Science, Social Sciences, Supply Chain, Engineering, or related field.
  • Experience: 3+ years in supplier assessments, environmental evaluations, sustainability consulting, or compliance.
  • Knowledge of environmental frameworks: ISO 14001/45001.
  • Strong understanding of supply chain dynamics and sector-specific environmental risks (manufacturing, textiles, automotive, chemicals, etc.).
  • Experience with audit methodologies, risk assessment tools, and reporting systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with ability to prepare professional audit reports.
  • Strong stakeholder management and cross-cultural engagement skills.
