Technology Innovation Manager


Job Description:
Overview

The role of Technology Innovation Manager involves identifying and evaluating emerging industry trends, developing solid investment theses based on deep technological, financial, and strategic analysis, and supporting the entire investment process from sourcing deals to executing investments.


Key Responsibilities
  • Perform due diligence by evaluating strategic, operational, and financial parameters, collaborating with internal and external legal and accounting teams while driving the deal execution
  • Collaborate with Sony's global investment teams to create and regularly update investment theses, industry landscapes, and screen the best startups
  • Manage and monitor investments, helping portfolio companies with their strategic and growth prospects, and exploring strategic partnerships between Sony and startups when warranted
  • Develop and nurture strong relations with venture, corporate venture, and entrepreneurial communities

Qualifications
  • Engineering degree (Bachelors at least, a Masters degree preferred) from a top-tier university. Ideally in a technology topic related to our deeptech investment area (e.g., AI/ML, Cybersecurity, Semiconductor, Advanced manufacturing, Advanced computing, Web3/Blockchain)
  • Must have 5+ years of related work experience in roles at a PE/VC/CVC firm, management consulting, operating experience in strategy/business development/finance at a large corporation and/or venture-backed startup
  • Experience in working in areas of our core investment focus: Deeptech or Enterprise
  • Natural curiosity about technology and innovation with a drive to understand market and technology trends to help develop market landscapes and innovation thesis
  • Strong analytical skills with ample experience in assessing businesses, technologies, financial models, and valuations in both qualitative and quantitative manners
  • Self-driven and motivated with strong interpersonal and solid written and oral communication skills
  • Experience managing multiple projects at once while working both independently and as part of a global team
