Lead Merchant Payment Specialist

Role Purpose:

The successful candidate will lead the merchant payment operations team to ensure seamless payments and reconciliation processes. This role requires strong leadership skills, technical knowledge, and analytical capabilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and supervise reconciliation and settlement activities to maintain efficient operating models.
  • Process payments within established turnaround times and adhere to service level agreements.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to identify opportunities for process improvement, develop plans, measure success, and monitor impacts.
  • Utilize technical and analytical skills to drive success in a team-based environment.
  • Effectively manage operational risk across all aspects of payments and settlement functions.
  • Lead projects related to payments and reconciliation, ensuring timely completion, objective achievement, and cost efficiency.
  • Address audit points in a reasonable timeframe.
  • Prepare regular management information and analysis for senior management monitoring.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Relevant work experience: Minimum 5 years in international payment gateways, fintech, acquiring settlement, or banks with merchant settlement and reconciliation experience.
  • Years of work experience: Proven leadership in merchant settlement and reconciliation of payment gateway transactions, refunds, cash management, and nostro reconciliation.
  • Qualification: Graduation from a recognized university, preferably with an accounting background (B.COM).
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Technical and analytical capabilities.
