Senior Editor Opportunity

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced editor to lead our team of desk editors and drive the success of our India editing operation.

  • Manage a high-performing team of editors and oversee the entire editing process from start to finish.
  • Edit, rewrite and shape news stories with engaging prose and strong editorial judgment.
  • Elevate the quality of our content while delivering updates at speed and meeting deadlines.
  • Ensure that our team adheres to Reuters' high standards for accuracy, speed, brevity, clarity, fair comment, impartiality and sourcing.
  • Serve as a key ambassador for our bureau and work closely with our Head of Desk, Bangalore, to expand connections with global editing centers.

About You:

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A strong background in news editing with a keen eye for detail and the ability to simplify complex material.
  • Extensive knowledge of financial news and the ability to edit stories across policy, economics, markets, company news, corporate fundraising, banking and finance.
  • The ability to make swift editing decisions on fast-moving news while crafting longer stories that engage professionals and general readers alike.
  • An empathetic leadership style with excellent people skills and a passion for coaching and guiding reporters and colleagues.
  • At least 10 years of experience as a journalist, with five years of editing business news. Reporters with proven writing and team leading skills will also be considered.
  • Excellent multitasking and time management skills to deliver under pressure.
  • A strong communication style with a diverse and inclusive mindset.

  • No prior experience with Reuters required, but a strong understanding of our editorial standards is essential.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Familiarity with content management systems and other digital tools is a plus.
