Job Title

Main Purpose:

To lead the execution of well planning and design ensuring technical integrity, cost-effectiveness, and regulatory compliance. This role drives well delivery from concept to execution readiness integrating subsurface understanding with drilling and completion technologies tailored for coalbed methane fields.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Well Planning & Design:
    • Develop detailed basis of design (BoD), risk registers, and contingency plans for CBM wells.
    • Design fit-for-purpose and cost-optimized completions for coalbed methane production e.g., cavitation, open-hole, or fracked completions.
  • Engineering & Cost Control:
    • Evaluate and apply new coalbed methane-relevant technologies e.g., slim-hole, underbalanced drilling, horizontal CBM.
    • Select equipment and materials in collaboration with procurement and service vendors.
  • Operational Support:
    • Provide real-time technical support to the execution team during drilling, casing cementing, and completions.
  • Cross-Functional Coordination:
    • Work closely with subsurface teams geology, reservoir, petrophysics for well targeting and zonal optimization.
  • Regulatory & Compliance:
    • Ensure all well designs and activities comply with regulations.
  • Team Management & Leadership:
    • Lead a team of well engineers and mentor junior staff.
