Cybersecurity Leadership Role

Establish a robust cybersecurity posture by leading the development and implementation of comprehensive security strategies, frameworks, and best practices across cloud, applications, and enterprise infrastructure.

This is a senior permanent position where you will oversee the growth of the cybersecurity team, set up processes and frameworks, and establish a strong pipeline of security talent.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop, implement, and manage enterprise-wide security architecture and frameworks across multi-cloud environments.
  • Lead secure software development life cycle adoption, threat modeling, application security reviews, and web application firewall implementation.
  • Drive DevSecOps practices, including automation of compliance checks, vulnerability management, and secure infrastructure provisioning.
  • Team Ownership:
    • Establish and grow the cybersecurity team from the ground up, setting up processes, frameworks, and best practices.
    • Act as the head of the cybersecurity vertical, accountable for strategy, execution, and reporting to leadership.
    • Build a strong pipeline of security talent and mentor engineers to achieve maturity in security operations.
  • Risk Management & Compliance:
    • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements (NIST, ISO 27001, PCI DSS, GDPR, PSD2, SOC2).
    • Partner with leadership to balance business needs with security risk tolerance, translating technical risk into actionable business decisions.
    • Continuously improve security policies, procedures, and audit readiness.
  • Cybersecurity Operations & Incident Response:
    • Work with security operations center and incident response teams to detect, investigate, and remediate security threats and incidents.
    • Develop and optimize incident response playbooks to improve containment, recovery, and resilience.
    • Implement proactive monitoring and security automation to reduce exposure to malicious events.
  • Collaboration & Mentorship:
    • Partner with cross-functional teams to embed security best practices across development and infrastructure teams.
    • Provide strategic mentorship to engineers and stakeholders on threat trends, secure coding, and compliance.
    • Lead documentation, training, and awareness programs to promote a strong security culture.

Qualifications:

  • Master's in Computer Science (Preferred: Texas A&M or equivalent) and Bachelor's in Computer Science/Engineering.
  • 17+ years of proven cybersecurity experience across cloud, DevSecOps, application security, and compliance.
  • Certifications: ISC2 CCSP, AWS Solutions Architect (Pro), Azure Security Engineer, CEH Master, Google Cloud Architect, ITIL.
  • Hands-on expertise in:
  • AWS/Azure security services, identity and access management, Terraform, Okta/AD, continuous integration and continuous deployment pipelines.
  • Secure network design (VPCs, firewalls, web application firewalls).
  • Application and product security reviews.
  • Security automation and compliance monitoring tools.
  • Strong leadership, stakeholder management, and communication skills.
