Estimation Specialist Role

We are seeking a highly experienced Estimator who is passionate about the broadband, telecom, and outside plant industry. The ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge of industry requirements for all outside plant engineering and construction needs and possess the expertise to properly price projects accordingly.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Review customer provided Request for Proposals (RFP) documents to gain a comprehensive understanding including project scope, RFP response requirements, project specifications, project schedule, and customer objectives.
  • Develop tailored estimate and bid preparation templates specifically designed for each RFP project.
  • Utilize expert-level proficiency in Excel to build cost breakdowns, high-level schedules, risk registers, preliminary resource plans, and populate customer bid pricing forms and sheets for RFP submittals.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather necessary project information and ensure accurate estimates.
  • Conduct thorough analysis and research to identify potential cost-saving opportunities and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders to present estimates, address inquiries, and provide recommendations as needed.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and best practices to continuously improve estimating processes and accuracy.
  • Perform other miscellaneous duties related to Estimating as assigned.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • A proven track record of experience in estimating within the broadband, telecom, or outside plant industry.
  • Expertise in Excel with the ability to develop complex spreadsheets and models.
  • A self-motivated individual with a strong passion for the industry and a drive for excellence.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail.
  • The ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively interact with team members and clients.
  • A minimum of 3 years' experience in commercial and industrial low-voltage and/or fiber optic cabling project coordination and estimating as combined, related, and relevant experience.
  • The ability to read and understand blueprints, structural drawings, and plan sets.
  • Able to comply with and enforce risk management policies and safety procedures.
  • Experience preparing budgets for each project.
  • Knowledge of construction materials, processes, trade practices, and equipment.
  • OSHA 10, 30 Certifications preferred.
  • Proficiency in using software suites such as Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent written and communication skills in English.
