Job Summary
- We are seeking a skilled and experienced Cook to join our kitchen team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and cooking food to the highest standards of quality and presentation.
About the Role
- As a key member of our culinary team, you will be expected to possess advanced knife handling skills and be able to work in any section of the kitchen.
- You will have a good understanding of culinary terms and be able to read, understand, follow, and prepare recipes.
- Efficient task completion and productivity are essential, as well as adherence to Public Health standards within your section.
- You will maintain your assigned area in preparation for inspections and report for duty at assigned times, following your supervisor's instructions.
Key Qualifications
- A minimum of 4 years of experience in an upscale hotel, resort, cruise ship, or convention banqueting service, with at least 2 years as a Cook (shipboard experience preferred).
- A culinary school degree is required.
- Strong management skills in a multicultural and dynamic environment, as well as strong communication, problem-solving, decision-making, and people skills are necessary.
Responsibilities
- Cost containment through proper use, handling, and maintenance of records, reports, supplies, and equipment.
- Maintaining personal appearance, uniform, and personal hygiene according to company rules and regulations.
Required Skills
- Planning, coaching, organizing, staffing, controlling, and evaluating skills.
- Intermediate computer software skills.
- An understanding of basic accounting principles such as numbering flow, Debits/Credits, adjusting entries, and corrections.
