Lead Biofuel/Biogas Facility Operations

We seek an experienced Chief Engineer to oversee the commissioning and operations of our biofuel/biogas facility.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in leading plant setup/commissioning and operations in biofuel/biogas/CBG or closely related continuous-process industries.

Key Responsibilities:
  • End-to-end Commissioning Leadership: Ensure utilities readiness, pre-start checks, start-up, performance ramp-up, and stabilization.
  • Technology Verification: Diligence and validation of process technologies/vendors, including pilot data review, PFD/P&ID checks, HAZOP actions, FAT/SAT, performance guarantees, energy/mass balance, and lifecycle OPEX.
  • Plant Setup and Operations: Daily leadership to targets (throughput, yield, methane purity, uptime).
  • Optimization of Digestion, Gas Cleanup/Upgrading, Compression, Storage/Dispensing, and Utilities.
  • Preventive/Predictive Maintenance: Establish a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS), run root cause analysis (RCA), and drive reliability metrics (MTBF/MTTR).
  • Management of EPCs and Contractors: Control scope, change, and debottlenecking projects.
  • Ensure EHS & Statutory Compliance: Own SOPs, PTW, emergency response, and audit readiness.
  • Build and Mentor O&M Teams: Shift engineers, mech/E&I, utilities, QC.
  • DCS/SCADA KPIs and MIS Reporting: Drive data-led improvements and cost control.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical/Mechanical Engineering (or related).
  • Extensive experience in leading plant setup/commissioning and operations in biofuel/biogas/CBG or closely related continuous-process industries.
  • Proven technology evaluation/verification experience (vendor due diligence, guarantees, trials, acceptance testing).
  • Strong troubleshooting across mechanical, electrical & instrumentation (compressors, blowers, agitators, PSA/membrane, analyzers, HT/LT).
  • Solid command of EHS, environmental norms, and compliance.
  • Demonstrated team leadership, stakeholder management, and crisp communication.

  • Uptime/availability.
  • Specific gas yield (Nm³/ton VS).
  • Methane purity (%).
  • Energy intensity (kWh/Nm³).
  • O&M cost/ton feed.
  • Audit & safety performance.
  • Skill development/retention.

This is an on-site opportunity at our Ahmedabad-based facility with flexibility during start-ups/turnarounds.
