Job Description Job Title: Business Development Manager - Institutional Sales Organization: DefMate Location: Gurgaon (with flexibility; frequent travel to Mumbai, Vizag & Defence HQ, Delhi) Engagement: Full-Time About DefMate DefMate is a defence-focused company developing and supplying consumable solutions designed for operational and institutional environments. The company works closely with defence and paramilitary establishments to address practical needs through reliable, high-quality products and efficient program execution. Position Summary DefMate is seeking a Business Development Manager Institutional Sales to lead engagement with key stakeholders across the Indian Navy and Army. The role focuses on maintaining strong institutional relationships, managing program execution, and driving sales through structured coordination with procurement and logistics authorities. The candidate may be either: - A retired Indian Navy officer with relevant experience in provisioning, procurement, or logistics operations, or - A civilian professional with a solid understanding of sales ordefence procurement systems and prior experience in institutional or government sales. This role reports directly to the Senior Management/ Chief Executive Officer and requires frequent travel to Mumbai, Vizag, and Delhi HQs. Key Responsibilities - Manage relationships with defence procurement, provisioning, and logistics departments across Navy and Army. - Lead and coordinate all institutional sales efforts, including documentation, proposals, and order follow-ups. - Build long-term engagement with decision-makers in Mumbai, Vizag, and Delhi to ensure consistent demand and supply. - Track ongoing trials, supply status, and approval processes across relevant commands. - Identify opportunities to expand DefMate's presence through new product categories or operational programs. - Ensure timely communication, compliance, and documentation in alignment with defence protocols. - Provide regular feedback and insights to the CEO to guide strategic planning and future institutional initiatives. Candidate Profile - Background: Retired Indian Navy officer (preferred) with procurement/logistics exposure or a civilian professional with 515 years of experience in defence or institutional sales. - Knowledge: In-depth understanding of defence procurement processes, documentation, and hierarchical workflows. - Network: Established relationships within the Navy (Mumbai, Vizag, Delhi) or other defence procurement setups. - Skills: Excellent communication, relationship management, and negotiation capabilities. - Attributes: Responsible, proactive, and mission-driven; comfortable working across departments and hierarchies.
