Joint Director - Medical Services - Administration
1. Job Purpose: Overall responsibility for medical leadership and supervision of the departmental operations including delivery of clinical care both routine and emergent, academic, inter & intra departmental collaborations, people management, infrastructure and other administrative functions of the assigned clinical specialties and Laboratory Medicine through the respective Directors.
2. Accountabilities:

- Overall leadership, monitoring and supervision of departmental activities of the assigned clinical specialties and collaborate with Directors and Mentors and other support services for smooth functioning and effective patient care and management.
- To Monitor and Supervise Residents & Ward HMOs.
- To ensure that the assigned specialties have standardized clinical protocols in line with evidence- based medicines to provide standard care to all patient and achieve medical outcomes of highest standards for our patients. The medical outcomes shall be measured by hospital & shared on regular basis for continuous improvement and take appropriate guidance to address any adverse medical outcome as applicable from the mentor.
- Responsible for supervision of the governance framework of assigned clinical specialties and support medical governance of organization.
- To help Clinical Governance by ensuring implementation of policy decisions taken in Clinical Safety, Infection Control, Pharmacy & Therapeutics and Transfusion Committees.
- Drive Vision, Mission and Values & Behaviors of Hospital across the assigned clinical specialties.
- To Monitor & Supervise the Managers & Executives working in Medical Services.
- Responsible for Credentialing and privileging of all the doctors of RFH.
- Review and approve the privilege delineation for the clinical staff for final approval of Credentialing and Privileging Committee.
- Identify risk status across the services provided by the specialties and recommend appropriate intervention to minimize risk
- Ensure accurate exchange of information during care transition and transfer of patients
- Promote use of evidence based practice like site marking, WHO surgical checklist & hand hygiene protocols across the clinical specialties
- Ensure that infection control protocols, antibiotic stewardship program are followed in wards & OTs, Procedure Rooms
- To optimize resources & help maximum utilization of resources.
- Ensure all services in the Department of Radiology from In-patient and Out-patient departments of Hospital are conducted as per established quality norms and good clinical practices
- Oversee collation and analyzing of records, reports, test results, or examination information to support Clinicians to diagnose disease of the patient as per set benchmarks / SLAs
- Ensure proper staff safety standards are met through compliance with Radiology safety standards for the team members
- To drive P&L of Medical Departments.
- To help the Clinical Departments to identify areas of Improvement & reduction of costs.
- To help in resolving grievances & complaints from Internal & External Customers.
- To check for completeness of documentation and medical records in the departments.
- To analyze data from clinical departments and suggest measures to improve the process.
- To monitor & help in conversions of EHC & OP Patients.
- To help monitor KRAs & performance indicators of Ancillary services like CSSD, Medical Records, Dietetics.
- To help in Program Development in the following services:- ENT, Ophthal, Dentistry, Pulmonology, Allergy Sciences, Dermatology.
- Drive RFH and clinical policies and protocols in collaboration with respective Directors of the department
- Ensure that all patient related and administrative documents are accurately maintained/ updated ensuring patient confidentiality at all the times in HIS.
- Lead & participate in SLT, core committee (as applicable), interdepartmental meetings, medical governance, committees and fulfill all responsibilities as assigned
- Participate as per the defined role during any internal / external disaster.
- Any other responsibility as assigned by the organization on the need basis.
Key Responsibilities: Growth:
- Coordinate with respective Mentors and Directors to drive the International & National collaboration as applicable to develop world class clinical care, clinical outcomes, path breaking results, high end technology with strong focus on academics to ensure quality care.
- Plan, and participate in health programs in the hospital, Outreach activities or communities for prevention and treatment of injuries or illnesses
- In collaboration with the respective Directors and Mentors, introduce new clinics, specialties for further growth of the department
Key Responsibilities: Quality:
- Ensure quality assurance, quality improvement programs and safety related activities are adhered to across the assigned clinical specialties and departments
- Lead and drive accreditation related activities across the assigned clinical specialties and departments & Monitor quality indicators and drive excellence.
- To support the Coordinator and the department to get integrated with the Quality, Infection Control & Patient feedback framework of organization.
- Ensure adherence to internationally accepted standards of care, including but not limited to those recommended by JCI, NABH and other quality systems
- Empanel suitable consultants across the assigned specialties to augment the services and thereby contributing to the growth of the hospital upon consent of Medical Leadership team
Key Responsibilities: Finance:
- Plan & achieve annual topline budget.
- Plan capex / opex in terms of medical equipment and instruments, consumables and supplies to support routine and contingency operations.
- Plan and monitor optimal utilization of available resources.
Key Responsibilities: People:
- Support HR in selection and onboarding of the most suitable and competent team members
- Set the goals for team members and be responsible for performance evaluation / assessment / appraisals. Drive high performance and professional excellence
- Ensure induction / orientation training of functional and technical skills of the team members.
- Ensure high morale and retention of the team members through introduction of timely resolution of any issues and as Mentor to junior medical staff
Key Responsibilities: Innovation & Research:
- Conduct, participate and encourage clinical education, research, test medication, clinical tests and publication to advance the practice of medicine pertaining to the clinical specialties
- Plan and monitor academic and teaching activities of the specialties as required by the DNB or any fellowship programs
- Keep abreast with the latest technology and innovations in the clinical field for advancing the departments
- Seek and implement suggestions / feedback to further improvise services and growth of the department
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS: MBBS and Management Dip / PG Qualification
Desirable: MBA in Healthcare administration
RELEVANT EXPERIENCE: 15 years' experience post PG in clinical and medical Out of 15 years of above experience minimum 5-8 years should be in large multispecialty hospital.
