Your role and responsibilities

This role offers a unique opportunity to be a part of a dynamic, energetic team and a high performance team and also provides an unmatched exposure to process automation under all market segments under Energy Industries viz. Thermal, Hydro, Upstream, Midstream, Refining, Pet-chemical, Chemicals, Life Science, Specialty Chemicals, Paints. The learning curve offered by this role is unmatched. Each day, you will serve as a key technical resource in the assigned area. You will also showcase your expertise by preparing technical descriptions of the products and technology, determining costs, and preparing final documentation.

This role is contributing to the Process Automation – Energy Division in India.

You will be mainly accountable for:

• Responsible for fueling the growth ambition of the Energy division by shouldering the responsibility to create and complete bids/estimations/quotations based on customer specification or customer requirements/budget for Process Automation, Process Safety, Substation automation, SCADA, to achieve both market competitiveness and high margin for the Company. Maintain and improve the balance between all ABB units and customers that are present in the area of responsibility.

• Offering technical advice and solutions on inquiries from customers/channels/Sales Specialists about ABB products/systems/applications.

• Ensures tenders are well documented in a timely manner and with appropriate level of detail, including full and accurate costs.

• Identifies potential risks in the bids, quotations and estimates, and in any related contract agreements across customers/channels. Provides information and/or participates in the Risk Review process in accordance with ABB policy.

• Manages the preparation of RFI (Request for Information), RFQ (Re-quest for quote), all technical (e.g. defining the most suitable tech-nology and product type(s)), financial (e.g. total price sheet, cash flow analysis) and if necessary, project management (e.g. quantifies hours of engineering and commissioning) aspects of the bid/estimate/quotation, indicating prices and trading conditions.

• Collects and archives documentation regarding the offer/order and records assumptions and decisions taken during the development process. Regularly reports the status of the bids/estimates/quotations using defined tools and collects and analyses the reasons for tenders being lost and won.

• Establishes and maintains effective customer relationships to understand customer needs. Ensures a positive customer experience throughout the sales process.

• Identifies potential vendors for equipment and materials required in the project and technically evaluates supplier offers to check match with specifications. Collaborates with Supply Chain Management to coordinate requests to subcontractors

Qualifications for the role
  • You enjoy working with preparing bids/estimations in process automation, process safety, substation automation, PLCs, and in all markets.
  • You have 5 to 7 years of experience in preparing bids/estimations in process automation.
  • You are highly adept at customer specifications/requirements and applicable IEC or ISA standards.
  • You are passionate about interpersonal skills and problem-solving skills.
  • You have a diploma or engineering degree in Instrumentation, Electrical, or Electronics & Communication.
  • Process knowledge of Oil & Gas industry, Chemical industry, Pharma industry, power plants, awareness of global IEC standards, latest industry trends etc.
  • You are proficient in verbal and written communication in English.
