Responsibilities:

Shaping Policy & Advocacy:

  • Create and execute strategic plans to drive policy initiatives that align with RenewCred’s mission, advancing technology-driven carbon markets and governance.
  • Lead efforts to influence policy frameworks in India and globally by engaging with governments, regulators, and industry bodies, focusing on climate finance and carbon credit regulations.
  • Produce concise, informative policy papers for internal teams and external partners to clarify complex carbon market mechanisms.
  • Build strong relationships with key stakeholders, including governmental agencies, international organizations, and NGOs, to ensure RenewCred’s voice is heard in critical policy discussions.
  • Drive compliance efforts and ensure RenewCred's active participation in relevant certification and accreditation programs (such as UNFCCC Article 6).


Partnership Strategy & Management:

  • Develop and manage key partnerships with project developers, environmental organizations, financial institutions, and technology providers.
  • Oversee negotiations and partnership agreements to expand RenewCred’s reach and ensure a sustainable, mutually beneficial collaboration with partners.
  • Stay on top of trends and developments within carbon removal technologies, shaping RenewCred’s strategic response and positioning.
  • Work closely with internal teams across product development, research, and technology to ensure partnerships are leveraged for maximum impact in advancing the company’s goals.


Expanding Market Presence:

  • Lead RenewCred’s expansion into new markets by identifying opportunities for growth, ensuring compliance with local regulations, and forging strategic alliances.
  • Work on increasing the visibility and influence of RenewCred by attending industry events, conferences, and forums, ensuring our presence in key climate and sustainability discussions.
  • Build a roadmap for expanding RenewCred’s carbon registry into emerging sectors, driving innovation in how carbon credits are generated, monitored, and traded.


Key Requirements:

  • Minimum of 4+ years in policy advocacy, partnerships, or business development, ideally in carbon markets, climate policy, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of carbon credits, climate finance, or environmental governance is highly desirable.
  • Proven track record of managing and closing complex, high-impact partnerships and leading commercial negotiations.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills with the ability to engage technical and non-technical audiences, including policymakers, scientists, and business leaders.
  • Experience working closely with product, science, and technology teams to align partnerships and policy strategies.
  • Comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment where priorities evolve rapidly.
  • A STEM academic background or experience in a technical, scientific, or regulatory field is desirable.

This Role May Not Be for You If:

  • You prefer a highly structured environment with little variation in day-to-day activities. This role requires adaptability and the ability to wear many hats.
  • You prefer a slower-paced work environment. We’re a fast-growing team focused on making progress in real-time.
  • You are seeking a fully remote role. While we value periodic in-person collaboration in Bengaluru, the frequency can be discussed if you are not based here.
  • You are also looking for market-level remuneration. In all honesty, we are a very early-stage 'garage startup' and can only offer a sustenance amount for the first couple of years, or until the next fundraise or large buy-side contracts (manifestation activated).
