Presales Solution Architect

- Job Purpose
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced AWS Solution Architect to join our dynamic presales team. In this client-facing role, you will be the primary technical authority for our sales team, acting as a trusted advisor to prospective clients. The mission is to understand their business and technical challenges and design innovative, scalable, and secure AWS solutions that deliver tangible business outcomes. You will be instrumental in driving the technical win and ensuring a seamless transition from the sales cycle to our delivery teams.
- Duties and Responsibilities
Client Engagement & Technical Discovery:
Partner with Account Executives to qualify opportunities and lead the technical engagement with prospective clients.
- Conduct in-depth discovery workshops and meetings to uncover customer pain points, business drivers, and technical requirements.
- Articulate the value proposition of Workmates services and the AWS platform, tailored to the client's industry and needs.
Build strong relationships with technical stakeholders and executives, establishing credibility and trust.
Solution Design & Architecture:
Translate complex customer requirements into robust, scalable, and cost-effective cloud solutions on AWS.
- Design and present high-level architecture diagrams, technical proposals, and proof-of-concept (POC) demonstrations.
- Ensure all proposed solutions are aligned with theAWS Well-Architected Framework, covering pillars of operational excellence, security, reliability, performance efficiency, and cost optimization.
Develop Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) and Return on Investment (ROI) models to support the business case for cloud adoption.
Proposal & Statement of Work (SOW) Development:
Author the technical sections of proposals, RFP/RFI responses, and formal bids.
- Collaborate with the sales and delivery teams to accurately define project scope, deliverables, timelines, and effort estimates for Statements of Work (SOWs).
Clearly identify project risks, assumptions, and dependencies.
Thought Leadership & Enablement:
Act as a subject matter expert (SME) on the AWS ecosystem, staying current with the latest service announcements and industry trends.
- Collaborate closely with the AWS partner team, leveraging their support and programs (e.g., MAP, WAFR) to benefit our clients.
- Contribute to internal knowledge sharing, best practices, and the development of reusable solution templates.
Ensure a smooth and comprehensive handover of sold projects to the professional services/delivery team.
Qualifications and Work Experience
Experience:8+ years in a technology role with at least 3+ years in a customer-facing, presales, or solution architecture capacity.
- AWS Certification:Hold an activeAWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professionalcertification. (Or AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate with a commitment to achieve Professional within 6 months).
- Deep AWS Expertise:Proven, hands-on experience designing and implementing solutions across a wide range of AWS services, including:
- Core Infrastructure:EC2, VPC, S3, IAM, Route 53
- Databases:RDS, Aurora, DynamoDB
- Serverless & Containers:Lambda, API Gateway, ECS, EKS
- Migration & Modernization:AWS Migration Hub, Application Migration Service (MGN), Database Migration Service (DMS)
- Communication Skills:Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical concepts clearly and persuasively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Business Acumen:Strong ability to connect technical solutions with measurable business value.
Problem Solving:A natural problem-solver with a passion for technology and innovation.
Essential Skills
Experience working for an AWS Partner or a major systems integrator/consulting firm.
- AWS Specialty Certifications (e.g., Advanced Networking, Security, Data Analytics).
- Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools likeTerraformandAWS CloudFormation.
- Knowledge of DevOps principles and CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, AWS CodePipeline, GitLab CI).
