Job Purpose:

The Electrician will be responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting all electrical systems and equipment within the food processing plant, ensuring zero downtime and smooth operation of production machinery, including cold storage, freezers, conveyors, packaging machines, and retort systems. This role requires expertise in industrial electrical systems, preventive maintenance, and compliance with safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Equipment Installation & Maintenance

  2. Install, inspect, operate, maintain, and repair electrical systems, equipment, and fixtures for the plant.

  3. Maintenance of production line equipment such as:
  4. Freezers, chillers, cold storage units
  5. Retort machines, food processing machines
  6. Packaging machines (vacuum pack/ thermoforming/ sealing machines)
  7. Motors, pumps, conveyors, control panels, and VFD-controlled equipment

  8. Diagnose malfunctioning systems, components, and wiring using appropriate testing tools and techniques.

  9. Preventive & Breakdown Maintenance

  10. Perform scheduled preventive maintenance to minimize equipment failure and downtime.

  11. Respond promptly to breakdown calls and troubleshoot electrical faults.

  12. Maintain maintenance logs, breakdown records, and daily reports.

  13. Electrical Control & Automation

  14. Work with electrical panels, PLC-based systems, control circuits, and automation equipment.

  15. Assist in calibration and functioning of sensors, temperature control units, and instrumentation relevant to food production machines.

  16. Safety & Compliance

  17. Ensure compliance with ISO, GMP, HACCP, FSSAI, and plant safety guidelines.

  18. Maintain proper grounding, insulation, and electrical safety procedures.

  19. Ensure lock-out/tag-out (LOTO) procedures during maintenance.

  20. Inventory & Documentation

  21. Monitor material requirements and coordinate with stores for spare parts.

  22. Maintain documentation of electrical maintenance, AMC, and calibration reports.

Skills & Competencies Required:

  • Strong troubleshooting skills in industrial electrical systems.
  • Ability to read electrical diagrams, control wiring, and PLC circuit drawings.
  • Hands-on experience with:
  • VFDs, contactors, relays, switches, breakers
  • SCADA/PLC basics (preferred, not mandatory)
  • LT panels, DBs, MCC panels
  • Basic knowledge of food industry utilities (steam, compressed air, refrigeration) preferred.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and temperature-controlled environment (cold rooms).

Education & Experience:

  • ITI / Diploma in Electrician / Electrical Engineering.
  • 3–7 years minimum experience in industrial electrical maintenance.
  • Experience in Ready-to-Eat / Frozen Foods / FMCG / Food Manufacturing will be an added advantage.
