Role Overview

As the Head of Sales, you will be responsible for setting up, leading, and scaling the national sales function. This role requires a hands-on leader with deep experience in branded generics sales, team building, territory planning, distributor/channel setup, and revenue generation. You will play a foundational role in establishing our presence across key geographies and therapeutic segments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Sales Strategy & Execution
  • Design and execute go-to-market strategies for branded generics across India.
  • Identify key therapeutic areas and high-potential geographies.
  • Set realistic and ambitious sales targets aligned with company goals.
  • Team Building & Management
  • Recruit and lead a field sales force (RSMs, ASMs, MRs) in a phased manner.
  • Implement incentive structures, training modules, and KPIs.
  • Monitor field activities and drive performance across regions.
  • Channel Development
  • Develop and manage relationships with distributors, stockists, and C&F agents.
  • Establish efficient supply chain and logistics coordination for timely deliveries.
  • Drive primary and secondary sales growth in collaboration with distribution partners.
  • Market Intelligence & Brand Building
  • Gather real-time market feedback and competitor intelligence.
  • Provide inputs for pricing, packaging, and promotional strategies.
  • Marketing promotional Strategy, materials and campaigns.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration
  • Coordinate with regulatory, production, and marketing teams for smooth product launches.
  • Feed market needs into portfolio planning and product development.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor's in Pharmacy, Science, or related field; MBA is a plus.
  • Minimum 9-10 years of experience in Indian pharmaceutical sales, preferably in branded generics.
  • Proven track record of launching products, setting up sales teams, and delivering revenue growth.
  • Deep on-ground knowledge of pharma distribution networks across India.
  • Strong leadership, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel extensively, especially during the setup phase.

  • Experience working with or setting up greenfield pharma operations.
  • Fluent in Hindi and English (regional language proficiency is a plus).
  • Knowledge of regulatory norms and documentation processes in Indian pharma.
