Review, enhance and implement legal policies and process related to mortgage loans aligned

to the target segment of the company

2. Review and improve all legal documents including but not limited to loan agreement, mortgage

deeds, sanction letter and other documents relating to mortgage loans

3. Define and detail state, region (rural, semi-urban, urban) specific policy aspects to ensure we

have high levels of legal protection and compliance

4. Continue to be up-to-date on all the changes happening in the market including regulations,

law relating to mortgage and bring in relevant changes for the organization

5. Own and drive all the legal aspects of loan recovery process for the organization.

6. Coordinate with external legal counsel as needed, ensuring that the company receives the right

legal advice and representation

7. Handle legal disputes and litigation related to mortgage loans, including foreclosure

proceedings

8. Identify and mitigate legal risks associated with mortgage lending, including title issues,

compliance with regulations, and potential litigation

9. Provide training and development to other employees on legal matters related to mortgage

lending

10. Travel to states across India to understand our business, practical challenges in legal

documentation and processes and continuously improve our practices. Set up a framework on

training employees on the legal framework for the mortgage business.

11. Own, manage, and review all external legal partners relationships and their performance to

ensure we are compliant from legal and regulatory standpoint

12. Coordinate with external / empanelled legal counsels across States in connection with

representation of the Company in civil suits, court cases, arbitration, and regulatory matters

when required.

13. Conduct legal audits and ensure timely reporting of compliance issues.

14. Collaborate with credit, sales, operations, and recovery teams to provide legal support and

ensure smooth legal evaluation and loan disbursement

15. Supervise and guide the legal team across different locations.

Criteria:

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Law (LLB/LLM) from a recognized university. (LLM Preferred)

years of experience in corporate legal with direct experience in mortgage finance; 7+

years as heading the legal function of a leading housing finance company / NBFC is a must.

3. Knowledge and experience of operating in rural and small town areas across the country;

Experience in KA, TN, MH, MP, AP, KL is a must

4. Ability to read and write at least 1/2 south Indian languages and Hindi will be preferred.

5. Strong knowledge of mortgage laws, real estate, contract law, SARFAESI Act, IBC, RERA, and

other relevant regulations.

6.Hindi and other one regional language is mandatory
