Job Description: General Manager / Deputy General Manager / Head - (Solar Power Plant)

Experience: years of experience in Solar EPC or Renewable Energy domain.

Location: Jaisalmer, Bikaner, Barmer - (Rajasthan)

1. Role Purpose:

The
General Manager/Deputy General Manager - (Solar Projects)
will lead the end-to-end development and execution of a new utility-scale Solar Power Plant. This role is responsible for driving project planning, engineering oversight, compliance, quality management, and final commissioning, ensuring seamless transition into operations while meeting cost, quality, and timeline targets.

2. Key Responsibilities:

A. Project Planning & Execution

• Lead the complete setup of the solar power plant from land development to final commissioning.
• Develop detailed project schedules, budgets, manpower plans, and resource allocation strategies.
• Coordinate with EPC contractors, consultants, vendors, logistics partners, and internal functions.
• Track project progress, manage deviations, and ensure adherence to technical specifications and milestones.

B. Technical Oversight

• Oversee installation of modules, mounting structures, inverters, SCADA systems, transformer yards, and Balance of Plant (BOP) components.
• Review engineering designs, drawings, BOQs, and technical documents.
• Ensure compliance with engineering standards and safety practices.
• Troubleshoot site-level technical issues during construction and commissioning.

C. Permits, Compliance & Approvals

• Ensure all statutory approvals related to construction, electrical installations, and grid connectivity.
• Liaise with government authorities, DISCOMs, and regulatory bodies.
• Maintain documentation for quality, safety, and environmental compliance.

D. Contractor, Vendor & Stakeholder Management

• Lead vendor evaluation, negotiations, and onboarding for material supply and services.
• Monitor contractor performance and ensure adherence to contractual, quality, and safety requirements.
• Work closely with Finance, SCM, HR, Legal, and O&M teams for seamless project execution.

E. Quality, Safety & Risk Management

• Implement Quality Management Systems (QMS) and conduct periodic QA/QC audits at site.
• Ensure compliance with Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) norms.
• Identify project risks, develop mitigation plans, and ensure proactive issue resolution.

F. Pre-Commissioning & Handover

• Lead testing and commissioning of plant systems, substations, and transmission infrastructure.
• Validate plant performance parameters and ensure readiness for commercial operation.
• Facilitate smooth handover to Operations & Maintenance (O&M) teams.

G. Team Leadership

• Build, lead, and motivate a high-performing project execution team.
• Provide training, mentorship, and conduct performance evaluations.
• Foster a culture of ownership, safety, and continuous improvement.

3. Qualifications & Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (Master's degree preferred).
• 12-18+ years of experience in Solar EPC or Renewable Energy domain.
• Proven experience in delivering utility-scale solar power projects (50 MW+ preferred).
• Strong project management experience with cross-functional coordination exposure.

4. Key Skills & Competencies:

• Technical expertise in solar plant construction, testing, and commissioning.
• Strong leadership, decision-making, and stakeholder management abilities.
• Vendor and contractor management expertise.
• Proficiency in MS Project, Primavera, or similar project management tools.
