Responsibilities:

  • Lead NPD initiatives, oversee PPAP process & manage cost reduction strategies.
  • Develop new products, conduct DFMEAs & VAVEs; implement APQP methodology.
  • Job Title: Head – NPD Quality
  • Role Objective:
  • To lead the Quality function for New Product Development (NPD) and ensure flawless launch of new products by establishing robust quality systems, validation processes, and customer approvals in alignment with customer.
  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Drive APQP / PPAP processes for all new product developments and ensure timely approvals.
  • Establish and implement quality standards, testing protocols, and validation plans for new components and assemblies.
  • Collaborate with design, engineering, manufacturing, and supplier quality teams to ensure first-time-right development.
  • Lead DFMEA, PFMEA, Control Plan and MSA activities during development stages.
  • Ensure customer quality requirements (domestic & export OEMs) are understood and integrated into the development process.
  • Build and drive Q-gates and milestone reviews for NPD projects.
  • Coordinate with suppliers to ensure incoming part quality and capability (PPAP, SPC, Cpk, etc.).
  • Monitor and resolve pre-launch quality issues, ensuring zero-defect launch.
  • Lead internal and external audits related to NPD projects.
  • Develop a strong team culture of quality mindset and continuous improvement.
  • Key Skills & Competencies:
  • Strong knowledge of APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, SPC, Control Plan.
  • Expertise in automotive quality systems (IATF 16949, ISO 9001).
  • Hands-on experience in customer audits, supplier quality management, and NPD quality.
  • Ability to interface with OEM customers and resolve quality concerns.
  • Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving skills using 8D, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Qualifications & Experience:
  • B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical/Automobile/Production Engineering.
  • 15–20 years of experience in Quality, with at least 8–10 years in NPD Quality in the automotive/auto component industry.
  • Proven track record of managing OEM customer programs (domestic & global).
  • Experience with tube assemblies, fluid handling systems, or similar automotive aggregates will be an added advantage.
