Role Overview:

The Production Head will support the Factory Manager in managing the apparel manufacturing unit's day-to-day operations, ensuring daily, weekly, and monthly production targets are consistently met with optimum quality, efficiency, and cost control. This role demands strong leadership, technical expertise, and a results-oriented approach in a high-volume garment manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Target Achievement & Production Planning

  2. Drive daily, weekly, and monthly production target achievement in alignment with customer orders and business commitments.

  3. Monitor line-wise productivity and take timely corrective measures to address shortfalls.

  4. Support capacity planning and scheduling to ensure optimal resource utilization.

  5. Operations & Process Excellence

  6. Oversee end-to-end operations across production, quality, maintenance, and material flow.

  7. Implement Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, and other process improvement methods.

  8. Minimize downtime and ensure smooth workflow across all production lines.

  9. Quality Assurance & Compliance

  10. Ensure all products meet defined quality standards (AQL, buyer specifications).

  11. Support regular in-line and end-line quality checks.

  12. Ensure compliance with statutory norms, safety protocols, and labor laws.

  13. Cost & Resource Management

  14. Assist in budget control, waste reduction, and improving cost efficiency.

  15. Ensure optimal usage of manpower, machinery, and materials.

  16. People Management & Team Development

  17. Supervise and guide production supervisors, quality leads, and support staff.

  18. Monitor individual and team performance against agreed KPIs.

  19. Foster discipline, accountability, and a performance-driven culture.

  20. Reporting & Coordination

  21. Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly production and performance reports.

  22. Coordinate closely with the Factory Manager, Merchandising, and Supply Chain teams to meet delivery timelines.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Education: B.Tech / B.E. (Textile / Garment Technology) or equivalent. Diploma in Apparel Manufacturing accepted for exceptional candidates.
  • Experience: Minimum 15 years in apparel manufacturing with significant exposure to high-volume production.
  • Proven experience in achieving daily, weekly, and monthly manufacturing targets.
  • Sound knowledge of garment manufacturing processes, sewing line balancing, fabric types, trims, and finishing.
  • Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, and ISO quality systems is an advantage.
  • Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to perform under pressure and deliver results in tight timelines.
