Head Surface

Lead the surface department team consisting of various surface disciplines viz. Process / Operations & Maintenance, Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Structural, Civil, Pipelines etc.

Lead the surface oil & gas field development, Conceptual Engineering, Surface facility design & engineering, Flow Assurance, Project Management, Planning and cost control/optimization.

EPC Projects and O&M of Onshore facilities, Offshore platforms, Subsea pipeline, umbilicals, Floating production units, SBM etc

Assume a pivotal role in devising the Project Execution strategy and contracting strategy for the company.

Devise strategy for selection of Consultants/ EPC contractors/ Vendors, etc for engineering, procurement, construction and operation the surface facilities of the assigned capital projects.

Liaise, as and when required, with Governmental agencies (MoPNG, DGH, etc) for necessary Project / Statutory approvals viz. MoEF (Environmental Clearances) DGMS, PESO, Pollution Control Boards, Maritime organisations, etc.

Ensure the project development strategy is optimised and made fit-for-purpose for selected execution methods, whilst also maintaining necessary and appropriate engineering standards/ practices.

Drive the tendering processes including engineering, EPC/ Construction contracts, procurement of packages/ equipment/ bulk materials, etc. Ensure smooth interface with the selected vendors, contractors, etc. to ensure transfer of data/ documents/ drawings to & from these agencies for the successful completion of engineering, procurement & construction of the project.

Extensive knowledge on applicable codes and standards for Projects, Asset Integrity, O&M (API, ASME, OISD, PSM (OSHA) etc

Track record in handling technical and leadership roles in various Surface Facilities Verticals including Operations & Maintenance, Integrated Asset Management, Contract Management, Process Safety & Risk Management Systems.

In-depth knowhow of critical areas such as PSM (Process Safety), HSE, Assurance, Contract Management, CSR & regulatory compliances

Identifying opportunities & driving an operational excellence, process improvement, implementation of innovative technology, resource optimization and productivity enhancement with key understanding on subsurface, well engineering, workover & well completion.

Cost Estimation, Project Planning, Budget estimation/planning/phasing and management of work

People development and mentoring of juniors, subordinates & MT/GETs

Project requirement:

Provide all input and assistance to the Project teams viz. Fabrication/Construction/installation management teams for achieving timely completion of all construction activities in line with the project objectives. Timely response to all technical queries/ change requests is very critical.


Coordinate with the teams within the organisation, including commercial, finance, etc. as necessary related to the project execution.

Ensure that the development complies with and sets new standards in areas of Quality, HSE and CSR.

Assist in obtaining full approval of related Final Investment Decisions, JV resolutions, finance commitment, work programme & budget (W&PB) and expenditures consistent with company and JV requirements.
The secondary functions of the role are:

Develop & maintain a robust engineering team comprising of all discipline. Liaise with HR in recruitment, training & development and periodic performance assessment of the engineering team.

Provide general engineering & development input for the Company business as required, and to take on any additional responsibilities as appropriate from time to time.

Support the company is driving key stakeholder agreements related to external and internal parties

Qualifications: Bachelor's / master's degree in petroleum / chemical engineering/ Mechanical engineering. 25 years of Project and Operations experience of which at least 10 years should be in the role as senior leader in upstream Oil & Gas companies.

Experience in Onshore and offshore surface facilities.

Leadership role experience in Oil & Gas operator companies is a must.

Business understanding: Oil & Gas fields development, project management, field development plan, HSE & Quality, Asset Integrity, Statutory / environmental regulations requirements, national & international contracting & procurement practices, etc.

Knowledge: Project Concept evaluation, Feasibility, engineering, Management, Integrated planning, Surface Production / O&M, HSE principles & practices, QA/QC, contracting strategy & tendering practices, commercial / numerical evaluation methods etc.

Knowledge of interfacing functions viz. Well construction, Reservoir Engineering, Production Technology is required.
