Why this job matters

The Senior Accounting, Reporting & Financial Control Manager leads accounting and financial control activities for the Group/Business Unit, designing and implementing financial controls, processes and systems in accordance with best practice corporate governance, and ensuring effective risk mitigation, whilst providing leadership for the specialism, in alignment with Group business objectives.

What you'll be doing

1. Works with business leaders and other key stakeholders, enhancing operational methods, activities and processes to address gaps and weaknesses in controls and compliance and ensure all accounting and control activities are carried out in compliance with internal and external regulatory requirements
2. Applies expert knowledge of financial statements and accounting principles to anticipate emerging trends and requirements and shares expertise from multiple functional areas to inform commercial decision making
3. Leads the reporting on the control framework for the Group/ Business Unit
4. Manages the implementation of finance transformation and regulatory changes , ensuring new control procedures operate successfully, and in compliance with local legislative and regulatory requirements
5. Mentors, coaches, and/or manages experienced professionals to develop current and future team capabilities and ensure performance
6. Considers risk, regulation and uncertainty in all short and mid-term decisions and ensures that key risks are identified and managed in line with Group Risk Policy, establishing clear accountabilities and an appropriate risk culture
7. Leads the implementation of continuous improvement opportunities to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of accounting, reporting and financial control processes and to resolve data issues impacting productivity and compliance
8. Operates as an SME within own field of expertise, continuously developing expert knowledge of emerging trends and changes in accounting, reporting and financial control principles and practices and the applicability to BT, sharing this knowledge with team members as relevant
