Overview
Marketing Head - Agri Products is a strategic leadership role responsible for the overall financial and operational performance, market expansion, and strategic direction of the Agri Products division. This role involves leading the entire field sales organization, ensuring effective market penetration, driving revenue growth, and maintaining a highly skilled and motivated team focused on delivering value to the farmer community.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Leadership & Business Growth
Develop and execute the comprehensive annual and long-term business strategy for the Agri Products division to achieve market leadership, revenue, and profitability targets (P&L responsibility).
Set challenging yet achievable sales targets and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for the entire field structure, ensuring seamless alignment from the field leadership (reporting managers) down to the Agri Doctors (ADs).
Conduct regular market analysis to identify new opportunities, assess competitive threats, and provide strategic input for new product development or portfolio adjustments.
Lead all branding and high-impact market activities for the department, ensuring strong brand visibility and farmer engagement.
2. Team Leadership and Performance Management
Provide visionary leadership and direct supervision to the senior field leaders (the reporting managers), guiding them in operational excellence and market execution.
Review and approve the monthly/quarterly plans, training calendars, and budgets submitted by the field leadership team.
Monitor and evaluate the performance of the entire sales channel (Field Leaders, District Heads, and Agri Doctors) against sales targets, collection efficiency, and market expansion metrics.
Implement robust performance management systems, including coaching, motivating, and addressing consistent underperformance across all levels to prevent retrenchment and foster a high-performing culture.
3. Operational and Financial Control
Ensure strict adherence to financial discipline, personally overseeing and driving the timely clearance of Outstanding Payments across the entire division, and implementing effective debt recovery mechanisms.
Oversee inventory and stock management at the store level, reviewing internal auditing reports and collaborating with supply chain to plan for major stock replenishments.
Ensure all field operations comply with company policy, legal, and statutory regulations.
4. Training and Development Oversight
Establish the training agenda and standards for the field organization, ensuring that all staff are proficient in product knowledge, company values, and effective sales/consultation techniques.
Conduct random, high-level visits to market locations with Field Leaders and District Heads to directly assess the field team's product knowledge, operational execution, and engagement with farmers.
Mandate and track consistent execution of the key responsibilities by all field leaders, including daily staff presence monitoring and activity planning.
Required Qualifications & Skills
Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business Administration, Agriculture, or a related field.
Experience: Minimum of 10+ years in a senior leadership role, with direct experience managing large, multi-layered sales and distribution teams, preferably within the Agri-input, Seeds, or Crop Protection industry.
