Position Overview

The AVP – Sales & Marketing (Automobile) is responsible for driving the company's sales growth, market expansion, and brand positioning within the automotive sector. This role oversees dealer network management, retail and corporate sales, marketing strategy, and customer experience initiatives. The position requires a blend of strategic leadership, market understanding, and hands-on operational execution to achieve business objectives in a highly competitive automobile market.

Key Responsibilities

1. Sales Strategy & Business Development

  • Develop and implement national/regional sales strategies to achieve volume, revenue, and profitability targets.
  • Drive both retail and fleet/corporate sales growth through new business opportunities and partnerships.
  • Analyze market trends, competitor activities, and consumer preferences to identify emerging opportunities.
  • Oversee dealer network expansion, selection, and performance improvement.
  • Collaborate with finance and product teams to optimize pricing, discounting, and financing programs.

2. Dealer & Channel Management

  • Strengthen relationships with dealerships, distributors, and channel partners.
  • Monitor dealer performance, ensuring adherence to sales, service, and customer satisfaction KPIs.
  • Implement dealer development programs, incentive structures, and sales training initiatives.
  • Ensure brand standards are maintained across all retail outlets and customer touchpoints.

3. Marketing & Brand Management

  • Develop and execute integrated marketing campaigns (digital, ATL, BTL, events, and sponsorships) to strengthen brand visibility and lead generation.
  • Oversee product launches, advertising, and promotional strategies.
  • Ensure consistent brand positioning and messaging across all communication channels.
  • Utilize digital marketing and CRM tools to enhance customer engagement and loyalty.

4. Product & Customer Insights

  • Collaborate with product planning and R&D teams to provide market feedback and customer insights for future model development.
  • Monitor product performance in the market and recommend updates or repositioning where needed.
  • Lead customer satisfaction and retention programs to improve brand loyalty and Net Promoter Score (NPS).

5. Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead, mentor, and motivate regional sales and marketing teams to achieve business goals.
  • Foster a high-performance culture emphasizing accountability, innovation, and collaboration.
  • Set and monitor KPIs, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives.

6. Financial & Operational Management

  • Prepare annual budgets and forecasts for sales and marketing functions.
  • Manage expenditures within approved budgets while ensuring maximum ROI on marketing spends.
  • Track sales analytics and provide management with regular performance reports and insights.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or Automotive Engineering (MBA preferred).
  • 12–18 years of experience in the automotive industry, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role in sales & marketing.
  • Proven experience in dealer network management, retail operations, and brand marketing.
  • Strong understanding of automotive sales cycles, consumer behavior, and digital marketing trends.
  • Excellent negotiation, leadership, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in CRM, ERP, and data analytics tools.
