Application Support Engineer

You will be actively involved in the design of various components behind scalable applications, from frontend UI to backend infrastructure.

The North American Derivatives Exchange (NADEX), a wholly owned subsidiary of  , is fully regulated Chicago-based derivatives Exchange. It is unique in its offering, as it is the first exchange where retail investors can become members of an exchange directly, without the need for a broker. On the Nadex exchange, we list innovative capped-risk derivatives contracts on a wide range of global financial markets.

About the role

 We are seeking a motivated, creative, self-starting and dynamic new member of the application support team, safeguarding the operation and administration of the Exchange and Clearing Organization while also looking to innovate and automate processes and procedures. You will be part of a team that helps safeguard the technical operation of the Nadex Platform, Exchange and Clearing Organization. This is a great role for a talented technical candidate looking to develop their career within a fast-paced  Exchange trading environment.

• Provide expert-level remote management, administration, and support for Production and Demo trading exchanges, ensuring system availability, application stability, performance tuning, version upgrades, daily monitoring, problem resolution, and contract settlement.
• Participate in the development, refinement, and continuous improvement of operational processes and service delivery.
• Investigate, implement, and operate third-party tools to automate, enhance, and streamline service operations.
• Support a wide range of issues beyond the defined job scope when required.
• Provide coverage during nights and weekends on a rotational basis as part of a 24/7 operational environment.

• 5+ years' experience managing or supporting mission-critical production software applications.
• Strong technical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with incident management in a production or regulated environment.
• Solid knowledge or hands-on experience with Linux operating systems, scripting/automation (e.g., Bash or Python), and system monitoring tools (e.g., Grafana, Zabbix, Logic Monitor).
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends, in a 24/7 support model.

• Background in financial services, fintech, trading exchange, or trading system applications.
• Knowledge or experience with options and futures trading markets.
• Familiarity with AWS, Argo CD, AMQ/Kafka/Tomcat, high availability systems, networks, FIX, Scila, Splunk, and Python.
• Experience with SQL, job scheduling software, and clustered/high availability environments.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to process improvement.
